A little about us...

Welcome from Your Third-Grade Team!

Picture

My name is Fatema Alqamoussi. This is my first year as a classroom teacher, and I am so honored to be a part of the Eberwhite community!

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Human Resources Generalist for several years. I graduated from the University of Michigan's ELMAC program in 2021. During my program, I was a student teacher in a 5th grade classroom at Pattengill Elementary. I am very grateful to be a continued member of the larger Ann Arbor Public Schools community.

My parents and three brothers live in my hometown of Dearborn. During my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, and with my friends and family. I also love meeting new people and trying out new activities.

My name is Dawn Blair.  This is my third year teaching at Eberwhite, but my 18th year teaching in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. I  moved here from Chicago, IL, but I'm originally from Nashville, TN. I am thrilled to be a teacher at Eberwhite this year!

I am married and have two daughters. Our olderst daughter, Nia is a Senior at Tennessee State University and our youngest daughter, Imani is a Senior at Pioneer High School.  We are big football and track and field fans!  We also like traveling and spending quality time together. Our special time together is watching old movies!

My name is Victoria Kwan and this is my second year student-teaching! Last fall I was able to observe and learn so much from Dawn Blair in the classroom, and now this term I am able to work alongside her everyday and continue to learn not only from her, but also from the students.

I will be graduating this upcoming May with a certification in Elementary Education and an endorsement focus in English Language Arts. Besides student-teaching, I am also a senior captain on the varsity swim team at the University of Michigan. I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and have had the opportunity to represent Team Canada in several international competitions. Being a first-generation college student, attending the University of Michigan and continuing my education in the States has been a dream for my parents. Although balancing full-time student teaching and athletics has been challenging, the students and staff at Eberwhite have been nothing but supportive.

That being said, never be afraid to come say hi! I will be at the school everyday :)

My name is Stephanie Kahl-Burnstein, but I go by Ms. Burnstein in the classroom. This is my fifth year teaching third grade at Eberwhite. My family and I moved to Ann Arbor eight years ago from the Cayman Islands, and I have worked throughout AAPS since our arrival. My husband grew up here and is a proud graduate of AAPS.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running a parent/child book club, and spending time with my husband, our three kids, two dogs, and one cat.  Our oldest son, Sam, is a senior at the University of Michigan, while Oliver, our second son, is enjoying his sophomore year as a Wolverine.  Our daughter Zalie is a freshman at Washtenaw International High School and is excited to try her hand at rowing as a Huron River Rat. I’m a lifelong learner who loves to enjoy new experiences and explore the world near and far.

My name is Allison Miller, and this is my 2nd year of student teaching here at Eberwhite Elementary! I had the pleasure of observing Stephanie Kahl-Burnstein do her amazing work last winter, and now I have the joy of working full time in her classroom!

I am from Beverly Hills, MI. Most of my extended family can be found all throughout Southeast Michigan. Why ever leave this beautiful state??

I am a senior studying Elementary Education at the University of Michigan. I have known I wanted to be a teacher since I was about 8 years old, and it makes me so proud to be so close to achieving that goal! I will graduate with my certification in Elementary Education, and a focus in English Language Arts this May. In addition to studying education, I have also spent a lot of time over the past 4 years in the Big House with the marching band! I know that music will always be an important part of my life.
